Linking rural job seekers with training and advice

For young adults in rural India who need jobs, exploring possibilities beyond their local community can be daunting. Some rural youth have not interacted with people outside their village, and may not know experienced professionals who can answer their questions about certain types of jobs. Whether in their villages or if they move to cities, they may need to learn basic skills in marketing or communications to sell their products or find work.

DIF’s flagship program Rozgar Dhaba approaches professionals to volunteer and give brief online trainings to rural youth, including Q&A sessions. These sessions are an easy way for rural youth to start learning skills and discovering which employment paths might be right for them.

Experts lead online sessions about topics that help rural people earn more income.

Trainings led by volunteers have included:

  • Skills required for EV (electric vehicle) jobs
  • Basic financial management
  • Skills required for food & beverage jobs
  • General career guidance for rural youth (ग्रामीण युवाओं के लिए करियर मार्गदर्शन सत्र)
  • Basics of Microsoft Word

Young adults feel more comfortable asking their questions in a low-pressure, small-group environment. Armed with knowledge and encouragement, they see more options for their futures.
